2. Is Jiu Jitsu safe for kids?
Yes! When taught in a structured and supportive environment like ours, Jiu Jitsu is very safe. Our coaches focus on discipline, respect, and proper technique, ensuring that kids learn in a fun, positive, and controlled setting.
3. Do I need to be in shape to start Jiu Jitsu?
Not at all. You’ll get in shape by training! Jiu Jitsu is for all fitness levels and body types. Everyone starts somewhere, and classes are designed to help you gradually build strength, flexibility, and endurance.
4. What’s the difference between Gi and NoGi Jiu Jitsu?
In Gi Jiu Jitsu, students wear a traditional uniform (called a Gi), and grips on the clothing are part of the techniques. In NoGi, students wear athletic wear (like rash guards and shorts), and grips are based solely on the body. Both styles teach the same core principles but offer different experiences.
5. What should I wear to my first class?
If you don’t have a Gi, wear athletic clothing like a t-shirt and shorts or leggings with no zippers or pockets. We have loaner Gis available for first-time students.
6. How often should I train?
This is totally up to you! For beginners, 2–3 times per week is ideal. It allows enough time to build consistency and learn without feeling overwhelmed. As you progress, you can train more often based on your goals.
7. How long does it take to get a Black Belt in BJJ?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is known for having one of the most rigorous belt systems. On average, it takes 8–12 years to earn a Black Belt, depending on training frequency, dedication, and progression.
8. Will I get hurt doing Jiu Jitsu?
Like any sport, there’s a risk of injury, but safety is a top priority. Our coaches emphasize technique, control, and respect. Injuries are rare when students follow instructions and train responsibly.
9. Can girls train Jiu Jitsu too?
